LiquidLik

LIQUIDLIK

LiquidLik is a liquid alternative to dry season dry lick supplement. Most dry season lick supplements aim to supplement your cattle with 60 grams of urea, a couple grams of phosphorus and a sprinkling of protein meal and minerals. Most of these supplements carry about 50% of non-nutritional ingredients like excess salt, ammonium sulphate and limestone which either act as cheap fillers or help limit intake. In most situations, your cattle will only utilize about 30 grams of the 60 grams of urea each day as they will not have the energy in their diet to utilize the other 30 grams of the urea. The other 30 grams is lost and leaves the animals body in their urine.

Cattle get better utilization of the urea when it is fed with an energy source. An animal’s cheapest energy source is green grass and dry licks work well until the grass has matured. While your grass still has some green leaves and is growing it will produce sufficient energy for animals to utilize the urea in dry lick and your cattle will only consume a moderate dose of dry lick. But as grass in the paddock matures and the fibre digestion and energy value decreases in the mature dry grass your cattle will dramatically increase their intake of the dry lick and most of this urea will be wasted as the grass is no longer providing sufficient energy to utilize the protein from the urea. You will also notice the cattle losing body weight and condition.

Ultralix LiquidLik Supplement

LiquidLik is designed to supply 40 grams of urea and 2 grams of phosphorus per day along with a balance of minerals and 200 grams of molasses per day. Rather than adding non-nutrition ingredients to our supplements we use molasses as the carrier which also provides a couple of megajoules of energy which will help utilize more of the urea.

We know this is when your supplement needs to preform to its potential and we believe that if you only feed about 40 grams of urea with a couple of hundred grams of molasses along with minerals and phosphorus you get a better result compared to feeding 60 grams of urea in a dry lick with only a minimal energy source in the dry lick. When drylick first started many years ago they contain higher levels of protein meal which provided some energy but today products contain minimal levels meal to reduce the cost.

If the dry season is prolonged without any rain, then we recommend to switch back to Ultralix Breeder supplements before your cattle lose any body weight or condition. Ultralix Breeder supplements contain a higher energy level than LiquidLik which will help maintain the animal’s health in prolonged dry conditions.

LiquidLik is a liquid alternative to dry season dry Lick or loose lick supplement

LiquidLik is our latest innovative product resulting from 12 months of development work and extensive trialing that we have to offer to our customers. LiquidLik is a safer liquid alternative to dry lick and is rain safe, intake controlled, cost effective and is easily handled. This product is designed to supply 40 grams of urea, 2 grams of phosphorus, 200 grams of molasses and essential minerals every day. The molasses in LiquidLik provides a couple of megajoules of energy which will help your cattle to utilize more of the urea compared to drylick. Without a sufficient energy supply, cattle can waste up to half of the urea being supplemented to them in a drylick when grazing on dry grass.

Breeders should be fed 100 grams to 400 grams per day. In most cases LiquidLik will cost less than half of the price of drylick per tonne and being able to control consumption we expect it to cost around 10cents per head per day.

Supplementing rate will depend on the amount and quality of roughage available for your livestock to graze and your desired outcome. Generally, the more you supplement or the earlier you start in the season the better the results should be. If the dry season is prolonged without any rain, then we recommend to switch back to Ultralix Breeder supplements before your cattle lose any body weight or condition.

Ultralix supplements contain Urea and should only be fed at the recommended rates. Make sure all non-targeted animals like horses cannot get access to these supplements. LiquidLik should only be used when you have adequate forage and water available and not be fed to starving stock or stock that have been deprived from water or roughage.

Ultralix will continue to expand our LiquidLik range as well as offering customers any custom mixed supplements.
